Job Overview:
A Field Application Specialist (FAS Engineer) will be a key technical ambassador with the Regional Sales Manager (RSM) for our advanced engineered solutions in Pharma/Biopharma HPAPI powder containment systems, powder handling, powder/liquid mixing.
The FAS role will span pre-sales and post-sales activities, combining technical consulting, solution development, and service support. The FAS will translate customer containment needs into actionable solutions using ILC Dover’s innovative product portfolio, and proprietary technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Sales Engagement:
    • Collaborate with local RSMs, Business Development Managers (BDM), product line managers (PLM), Global FAS/BDM members and a proposal team to develop optimized workflow product containment solutions for Big Pharma, CDMOs, CMO, and their supporting A&E firms.
    • Conduct customer site workflow assessments and feasibility studies of small and large molecule synthesis and material handling workflows to optimize performance and customer ROI with ILC Dover unique and innovative product portfolio and solutions from lab, Kilo, to full scale GMP production.
    • Deliver product demonstrations and value-based selling strategies to showcase our containment and materials handling process solutions.
    • Support the RSM and customers’ technical questions, post proposal phase, prior to receipt of order.
  • Post-Sales Service & Support:
    • Support the technical handoff to the Project Engineering design/delivery team after the receipt of order.
    • Support the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of deliverables.  Perform Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and/or IQ/OQ validations, ensuring smooth transition from Project Engineering back to Sales.
    • Troubleshoot and train operators of installed systems.  Provide recommendations for training intervals.
    • Support customers through the RSMs to adapt systems to evolving needs or compliance requirements.
    • Maintain an ongoing relationship with customers and A&E firms to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for continuous improvement, additional services and customer retention and loyalty.
 
  • Market Development & Representation:
    • Identify new applications and market segments for ILC Dover’s technologies through customer interactions and industry insights.
    • Represent ILC Dover at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
    • Deliver technical training to customer teams on system operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
    • Create and maintain presentations to support Pharma customers and A&E firms understanding of ILC Dover capabilities, products, and their long-term retention and loyalty.
 
  • Organizational Relationships:
    • The FAS is an individual contributor with significant latitude for decision making and works under general direction.  The incumbent in this role will report to the Sales leader/Manager within a Business Unit or within a Functional Unit. This position will have influence on external customers and impact on future relationships with customers.

Requirements:
  • Associates degree in a mechanical technical or science field
  • 5+ years of experience in Pharm/Biopharm environments or the process design workflow of small, large molecule or biopharma synthesis.  Familiarity with ILC Dover single use and containment products a plus.
  • Ability with SolidWorks (2022) and Solid Works PDM PRO to research legacy containment system designs and produce 3D and 2D “Marketing Sketches”, PIDs and potentially Functional Process Specifications for customers based upon agreed and offered solutions in Pre-Sales engagement.
  • Proven ability to conduct both in-person and remote customer engagements, including technical consultations and solution presentations.
  • Understanding of Lab, GMP, NFPA Ex explosive environments, and SMEPAC containment performance tests.

Preferences:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, automation, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical/biotech engineering or related science field.
  • 10+ years experience in Pharm/Biopharm, lab to production scale, with a strong focus on powder handling, mixing, and high containment of pharmaceutical grade equipment and single use products.
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical scale up process from lab, kilo to full production, the containment challenges of HPAPIs faced, and the ability to derive solutions for customers based on personal experience.
  • Understanding of the operation and capabilities of Allen Bradley, Siemens PLC system and components, and the operations of chemical and pharmaceutical plant overall control systems such as DCS and others.
  • Understanding of the operation and interface with A&E firms and their principle process engineers customers in big Pharma, CDMO, and CMOs. 
  • Proficient in Salesforce CRM, Industry standard MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Siemens and Allen Bradley programming experience with the ability to trouble shoot existing and development programs during FAT, SAT and IQ/OQ and other Post-Sale activities.
  • High level or native Spanish (Central and South America) and/or Portuguese (Brazil) speaking and writing ability.  Culturally astute with regards to potential Central and South America customers.  Willing to travel and support technical visits with South American sales representatives within Central and South America.
  • Professional Engineer status/registration any State or Commonwealth.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements  
  • Travel to client sites across North America 25-50% of the time

Pay Range: 
The pay range for this role is $130,000 - $140,000, excluding incentive opportunities. The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.  Hired applicant will be eligible to receive discretionary annual bonuses and incentive compensation.
