APS5/6 Policy Officers

Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client for a permanent opportunity supporting one of Australia's most significant national capability programs. This role offers the chance to contribute to complex policy development, strategic engagement, and international collaboration that will shape Australia's future security and economic landscape.

As a Policy Officer, you will contribute to the development and implementation of policy frameworks, strategic initiatives, and stakeholder engagement activities supporting a major Australian Government program.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic policy advice on complex and emerging issues
• Supporting international engagement and partnership initiatives
• Developing policy frameworks and implementation strategies
• Preparing high-quality briefings, reports, and ministerial correspondence
• Building productive relationships across government, industry, and international stakeholders
• Contributing to the management of sensitive and high-priority projects
• Researching, analysing, and distilling complex information to support decision-making
• Supporting cross-functional teams in delivering strategic outcomes

Key Criteria To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience developing policy, strategy, or government advice
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
• Sound judgement and the ability to work in complex or ambiguous environments
