NESCO Resource is partnering with a well-established, privately held manufacturing company in Waukesha, WI to identify an experienced Buyer II to join its team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a purchasing professional with 5+ years of manufacturing experience who understands MRP/ERP systems, supplier management, inventory control, and the challenges of sourcing materials with extended lead times. Experience purchasing electronic components is highly desirable.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Buyer II will provide experienced purchasing support to the company's Production, Service, and Engineering departments. This position will be responsible for managing purchasing activities, maintaining strong supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery of materials, negotiating pricing and terms, and supporting inventory and cost-control objectives.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a dynamic manufacturing environment and will have a proactive approach to supplier communication, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and place purchase orders for Production, Service, and Engineering.

Monitor orders closely to ensure on-time delivery of materials.

Manage purchase order acknowledgements, confirmations, past-due orders, and delivery exceptions.

Expedite, de-expedite, or cancel orders as needed to maintain appropriate inventory levels.

Maintain accurate order dates and purchasing information within the ERP system.

Communicate regularly with suppliers regarding delivery schedules, expectations, and issues.

Research and evaluate current and prospective suppliers based on pricing, service, quality, and overall value.

Support supplier development, qualification, and ongoing supplier performance management.

Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, and other purchasing conditions.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and support inventory-turn objectives.

Process purchase orders for assigned suppliers, miscellaneous items, office supplies, equipment, furniture, and other departmental needs.

Participate in physical inventory and other inventory-control activities.

Maintain supplier records and documentation related to accreditation and service-level management.

Utilize Epicor ERP to maintain accurate supplier information and ensure transactional and data integrity.

Coordinate supplier information with internal departments including Accounts Payable, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Sales.

Work with suppliers to improve payment terms and purchasing conditions.

Identify opportunities for purchasing contracts and manage small- and medium-sized contract opportunities.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing and supply chain.
QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of purchasing/buying experience in a manufacturing environment.

Previous experience working with MRP/ERP systems; Epicor experience is strongly preferred.

Experience with supply-chain programs such as Kanban, Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI), JIT, or similar delivery programs.

Strong negotiation and vendor-management skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing manufacturing environment.

Strong organizational and follow-up skills with excellent attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Willingness and ability to learn new systems and processes.
EDUCATION
-
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Accounting, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

C.P.M. or APICS certification is a plus.

Experience with Epicor ERP.

Experience with Power BI.

Experience purchasing electronic components.

Experience managing long-lead-time materials.
WHAT THE COMPANY OFFERS

$65,000–$85,000 base salary, depending on experience.
