COORDINATOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND PUBLIC REALM
About Moonee Valley City Council
Moonee Valley City Council is a diverse and vibrant municipality in Melbourne’s inner north-west, delivering a broad range of services and infrastructure that support the safety, amenity and everyday experience of the community.
Council is focused on delivering high-quality, responsive and sustainable services while ensuring its infrastructure assets are effectively maintained, renewed and managed for the long term.
This position presents an exciting opportunity to provide leadership across Council’s Infrastructure and Public Realm operations and help shape the future delivery of these important community services.
About the Role
The Coordinator Infrastructure and Public Realm is a newly created senior position responsible for the delivery of Council’s road and public infrastructure maintenance services, ensuring assets are safe, compliant, well maintained and delivering value for the community.
Reporting to the Manager City Presentation, you will lead a multidisciplinary team and function spanning roads and footpaths, drainage, playground infrastructure, signage and line marking, public realm assets and infrastructure inspections.
A key focus will be leading Council’s Road Management Plan obligations, alongside the planning and delivery of minor infrastructure renewal programs, ensuring effective inspection, defect management, compliance, prioritisation and delivery.
You will provide strong leadership across people, contractors, budgets and service performance, while working collaboratively across Council to drive continuous improvement, strengthen service delivery and ensure infrastructure services respond to organisational and community priorities.
About You
You are an experienced infrastructure leader with a strong background in road and public infrastructure maintenance, ideally gained within Local Government or a similarly complex service delivery environment.
Your technical knowledge spans civil infrastructure maintenance and renewal, supported by a sound understanding of statutory inspection regimes, the Road Management Act and risk-based approaches to infrastructure maintenance.
Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary operational teams, managing contractors and budgets, and coordinating infrastructure maintenance and minor capital renewal programs will be important to your success in the role.
You are comfortable balancing competing operational priorities while making sound decisions around safety, risk, service levels, asset performance and community expectations.
Importantly, you are a collaborative and pragmatic leader who can build capability within your team, establish strong relationships across the organisation and drive continuous improvement in the way services are planned and delivered.
A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline is essential.
