Role Purpose
The Business Services Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of business clients and leading the delivery of high‑quality tax and business advisory services. The role combines technical expertise, client relationship management, team leadership, and commercial acumen to drive client outcomes, compliance excellence, and practice growth.
Key Responsibilities
Client Management & Advisory
Manage a diverse portfolio of business services and tax clients across multiple industries.
Act as a trusted advisor, providing proactive tax planning, structuring, and business advice.
Build and maintain strong, long‑term client relationships through regular contact and strategic discussions.
Identify opportunities to add value and cross‑sell services within the firm.
Tax & Compliance
Oversee the preparation and review of:
Income tax returns (companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals)
Business Activity Statements (BAS) and IAS
Financial statements and management accounts
Ensure compliance with relevant tax legislation, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical guidance on complex tax matters, including CGT, Division 7A, trusts, and restructuring.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants and senior accountants.
Review work for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to firm standards.
Allocate work effectively to meet deadlines and client expectations.
Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and training initiatives.
Practice & Commercial Management
Manage workflow, budgets, and recoverability for assigned client portfolios.
Contribute to process improvement and efficiency initiatives within the business services team.
Assist Partners/Directors with forecasting, fee proposals, and client billing.
Support business development activities, including referrals and networking.

Qualifications & Experience
CA or CPA qualified (essential)
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
5–8+ years’ experience in public practice accounting
Demonstrated experience managing clients and leading teams
