Aequor Education is now hiring a full-time Sign Language Interpreter for the 26/27 School Year in Arlington Heights, IL. 

Pay: $51 - $56 per hour W2 (12-month salary options available if preferred) 

Schedule: Monday- Friday 830-330

Location: One building (TBD) - Arlington Heights 

Caseload/Classroom size and type: Deaf and Hard of Hearing - Satellite Program 

Required Certification(s): ISBE Approval required 

General Duties: Provide interpreting services for two grades - one building K-5. Will spend half a day with each grade. Member of a 6-person interpreter team

Position Summary
The School-Based Sign Language Interpreter facilitates communication between students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff within the educational environment. The Interpreter ensures equal access to instruction, school activities, and related services in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • ISBE Approval required 
  • Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Knowledge of Deaf culture and educational interpreting best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience interpreting in a K–12 educational setting.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt interpretation to student language proficiency levels.
