Family Lawyer

We’re looking for an experienced Family Lawyer to join a highly regarded Auckland team, with a particular focus on Relationship Property. This is a great opportunity for a Senior Solicitor who enjoys working on complex relationship property matters and wants to build deeper expertise in this area.

You’ll advise clients through separation and property division, including matters involving significant assets, trusts, companies and other complex financial arrangements. Alongside Relationship Property, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a broader Family Law practice, including separation and contracting out agreements, care of children and other related matters.

You’ll have significant ownership of your matters and direct client contact, while working alongside experienced practitioners who can provide guidance on complex issues and support your continued development.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to establish themselves as a specialist in Relationship Property while remaining part of a broader Family Law practice.

Duties

• Advise clients on complex relationship property matters
• Manage separation and contracting out agreements
• Advise on division of property, trusts and company interests
• Prepare applications and supporting court documentation
• Represent clients through negotiations and disputes
• Advise on wider Family Law matters where required
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships
• Support and mentor junior lawyers

Skills & experience

To be considered for this role, you will be a NZ admitted solicitor with strong Family Law experience and ideally a particular interest in Relationship Property. You will need a minimum of 5 years PQE. You’ll have experience managing relationship property matters independently, including separation and contracting out agreements and property division. Exposure to matters involving trusts, companies or more complex asset structures would be highly advantageous.

You’ll have excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills, along with the ability to provide calm, practical advice to clients dealing with often sensitive circumstances.

The successful candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of their matters and dealing directly with clients, while also contributing to the development and success of the wider team.
