Are you an analytical, detail focused professional with a couple of years' experience in a law firm looking for a role where accuracy and structure genuinely matter? A well established international law firm is creating a brand new role within its London office, working as part of a global finance function that supports the firm's client and matter lifecycle across its offices.
The Role
This is a newly created position for the London office, giving you the chance to help shape the role as it develops. Working closely with London based partners, and with regular touchpoints across the firm's international finance teams, the Billing and Rates Analyst will be responsible for ensuring client billing arrangements are captured, applied and maintained accurately throughout the life of a matter. Key responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing and validating client and matter financial terms to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with client agreements and firm policy.
  • Supporting the client intake process, reviewing financial information submitted as part of new business onboarding.
  • Configuring and maintaining financial terms within the firm's financial systems, including billing arrangements, rate structures and discounts.
  • Reviewing financial provisions within client guidelines and engagement documentation to ensure correct interpretation and consistent application.
  • Working closely with Billing, eBilling, Accounts Receivable and Pricing teams to ensure financial terms are applied consistently across the revenue cycle.
  • Supporting the onboarding of other European offices as the finance function grows.
The Candidate
We are looking for someone with:
  • Around two+ years of analytical experience, ideally gained within a law firm, Big Four firm or corporate environment.
  • A degree is preferred, but candidates with AAT or equivalent relevant accounting experience are equally encouraged to apply.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel. Experience with a legal Practice Management System, such as 3E or Intapp, would be an advantage.
  • A naturally organised, detail focused approach, with the confidence to work at pace and interpret limited instructions from busy partners.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across a range of teams.
  • Comfort with process driven, repetitive work, balanced by the ability to work independently once familiar with the role.
