Our client is an industry leader, supplying drilling components to customers across WA and internationally. Their reputation has been built through the consistent provision of high-quality products, a genuine customer first approach, as well as unique innovation in solving common issues associated with industry equipment.

With the continued growth of their Osborne Park site, the time is right for a Production Supervisor to step in and lead their workshop whilst forming a key link between senior management and production staff.

The successful applicant will step into a process-oriented, clean production environment with up-to-date machinery and a culture that is driven by employee input and ownership. This is a great opportunity for progressive, boots on the ground type leaders to grow and improve an established production workshop through LEAN principles.

You may be an experienced Supervisor, or a 2IC / Leading Hand / Team Leader with exposure to LEAN manufacturing... Either way, if this opportunity speaks to you, we would love to chat!

About the Role:
The basis of the day-to-day responsibilities will be to run the production space, using LEAN / TPS (Toyota Production Systems) ideology to identify areas for improvement and develop existing processes.

The role is not an office and clipboard sort of operation! We are looking for a strong communicator who leads by example. Vital to success in this environment will be an approachable, co-operative nature along with the ability to harness the positive team culture and mentor employee growth. You will be the conduit between the shop floor and senior management, a critical role in a forward-thinking business that champions workshop input on improving production processes.

In detail, key responsibilities will include:

• Manage the daily activities of the production team
• Lead continuous improvement using Lean / TPS methods — 5S, standard work, visual management and daily problem-solving
• Coordinate workflow to maximise productivity and on-time delivery
• Implement practical, sustainable solutions to workflow bottlenecks 
• Monitor production performance and report against key operational targets 
• Work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Stores and Dispatch to maintain production flow
• Allocate labour and resources to meet production priorities, including OT and leave coverage
• Assist with onboarding, training and development of production employees
• Adapt to changes in production priorities
• Provide clear direction, coaching and support to production employees
• Ensure quality and safety standards are consistently maintained
• Foster a positive, accountable and team-oriented workplace

Your ability to build relationships will be key in continued workshop staff engagement towards process improvements, as well as effective two-way communication between the workshop and senior management.

To be considered for the role you will have the following:

• Machining trade qualification with CNC experience allowing you to lead by example
• Hands-on experience working in a Lean / TPS manufacturing environment; daily meetings, 5S, standard work, visual management
• Previous leadership experience in a production environment
• Focus on continuous improvement
• A drive to lead people and get the best out of your team
• Ability to make concise decisions and clearly communicate expectations
• Practical, solutions-based approach
• Commitment to workplace safety
• Technological ability – using systems for production planning and reporting
