Are you the person other IT professionals turn to when an infrastructure issue gets complicated? We’re seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator II to join a collaborative infrastructure team responsible for keeping critical enterprise systems secure, connected, and performing at their best.

This is not an entry-level support role. You’ll work across Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, networking, and security technologies, serving as a key escalation point for challenging infrastructure issues. The ideal candidate brings strong systems administration experience along with enough networking knowledge to understand traffic flow, troubleshoot connectivity, and translate business needs into clear technical requirements. You’ll also work with modern security and monitoring tools to identify vulnerabilities, investigate issues, and drive remediation.

The position is located in Topeka, KS and will be onsite during approximately the first 3–6 months of training. Once fully trained, the role offers a hybrid schedule with two designated remote days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, administrative accounts, and other core infrastructure technologies.
  • Diagnose complex network and connectivity issues using knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, ports, protocols, DNS, firewall rules, and network traffic flow; translate technical requirements into actionable requests for networking and security teams.
  • Support technical security and compliance initiatives by using endpoint, monitoring, and security tools to identify vulnerable or noncompliant systems, analyze findings, and coordinate remediation.
  • Serve as an infrastructure escalation resource by independently investigating complex tickets, supporting technology projects, documenting solutions, collaborating with users and technical teams, and recommending solutions when issues do not have an obvious answer.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on systems, network, or infrastructure administration experience with strong knowledge of Windows Server 2019 or newer, Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS.
  • Solid networking fundamentals, including IPv4 addressing, subnetting, TCP/IP, ports and protocols, DNS, firewall requirements, and troubleshooting network connectivity.
  • Experience with technical security, endpoint, monitoring, or vulnerability-remediation tools such as CrowdStrike, Tanium, Splunk, or comparable technologies.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently investigate complex infrastructure issues, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and manage multiple projects and support priorities.

Preferred Experience

Experience with PowerShell or other infrastructure automation, enterprise security remediation, endpoint management, and environments where systems administrators support a broad combination of server, networking, and security responsibilities is highly valued.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This is an excellent opportunity for an infrastructure professional who wants more than routine server administration. You’ll have the autonomy to solve challenging problems, work across multiple areas of enterprise infrastructure, and serve as a trusted technical resource when issues require deeper investigation. If you enjoy figuring out why something isn't working—and having the technical breadth to determine how to fix it—this could be an excellent next step.

Salary: $70,000 - $75,000
