We're recruiting on behalf of a specialist London-based charity that supports people experiencing financial hardship through high-quality debt advice, money guidance and financial education services.

Working closely with experienced advisers, you'll support clients facing financial difficulties by providing practical advice, helping them understand their options and empowering them to improve their financial wellbeing.
The role
As a Trainee Debt Adviser, you'll develop the knowledge and skills needed to manage your own caseload while working towards recognised sector training requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting clients through debt advice appointments and casework.
- Gathering and analysing financial information to identify appropriate solutions.
- Managing client enquiries and correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential case records using case management systems.
- Providing tailored, client-focused advice and signposting to additional support where appropriate.
- Working towards weekly appointment and casework targets.
- Supporting the delivery and promotion of money guidance workshops and other services.
- Contributing to research, evaluation and reporting activities.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and external organisations to achieve positive outcomes for clients.
- Undertaking ongoing training and professional development to build your debt advice knowledge and skills.
About you
We're looking for someone who is empathetic, organised and passionate about helping others. You don't need to have worked as a Debt Adviser before, but you'll have excellent communication skills and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
You'll have:
- Experience working in a client-facing or customer service role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong listening skills and a non-judgemental approach when supporting people facing challenging circumstances.
- Good numeracy and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- A commitment to learning and continuous professional development.
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding and GDPR.
- A genuine interest in supporting financially excluded and disadvantaged communities.
Experience working in an advice, community or charity setting would be advantageous but is not essential.
