About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HealthShare Architect to lead the strategic design, architecture, and governance of our Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform built on InterSystems HealthShare and IRIS for Health.

As the technical leader for the HIE ecosystem, you will be responsible for defining the platform's long-term architecture, driving interoperability initiatives, and ensuring a secure, scalable, and high-performing environment that supports clinical operations and future digital healthcare innovations.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, development teams, infrastructure teams, and external healthcare partners to deliver enterprise-wide interoperability solutions while ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Strategy

• Define and drive the long-term technical roadmap for the InterSystems HealthShare platform.
• Design scalable, secure, and high-availability architectures across on-premises, cloud, or hybrid environments.
• Lead the architecture and implementation of enterprise-wide Health Information Exchange (HIE) solutions.
• Serve as the technical authority for key HealthShare components, including:
  • Unified Care Record (UCR)
  • Clinical Viewer
  • Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI)
  • Care Management
• Ensure the platform supports future initiatives such as AI, machine learning, population health analytics, and advanced clinical reporting.

Integration & Interoperability

• Design and oversee complex clinical integrations using InterSystems IRIS for Health / HealthConnect.
• Establish best practices for healthcare interoperability standards, including:
  • HL7 v2
  • CDA / CCDA
  • IHE Profiles
  • HL7 FHIR
• Develop enterprise integration patterns that support performance, scalability, and regulatory compliance.

Technical Leadership & Governance

• Establish architecture, development, and security standards for the HealthShare ecosystem.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers and technical teams.
• Conduct architecture, solution, and code reviews to ensure solution quality and maintainability.
• Guide development best practices for:
  • ObjectScript
  • DTL
  • BPL
  • XSLT
• Drive platform modernization and migration towards FHIR-based interoperability.

Security & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with healthcare privacy and security regulations.
• Define authentication, authorization, consent management, and data masking strategies.
• Implement governance frameworks to safeguard patient information and platform security.

Stakeholder Management

• Partner with clinicians, business stakeholders, infrastructure teams, and vendors to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership during project planning, estimations, and solution design.
• Act as the primary technical liaison during complex deployments and production support activities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Healthcare IT.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing enterprise solutions using:
  • InterSystems HealthShare
  • InterSystems IRIS for Health / HealthConnect
  • Ensemble / Caché
• Strong expertise in:
  • HL7 v2
  • CDA / CCDA
  • HL7 FHIR
  • IHE Profiles
• Extensive experience designing high-volume, mission-critical integration platforms.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Database architecture
  • Data modelling
  • Performance tuning
  • InterSystems Globals and Indexes
• Experience deploying enterprise applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related discipline.
