Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of civil infrastructure projects, an opportunity now exists for a Survey Technician to join their surveying team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Surveyor and Survey Manager, you will support the accurate delivery of survey services across a range of civil construction projects. Working closely with experienced survey professionals, you will assist with survey set-out, as-built surveys, data collection and model preparation to ensure projects are delivered safely, accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct survey set-out, pick-ups and as-built surveys using GNSS, total stations and other field equipment
  • Assist with the preparation and management of survey data, models and site files
  • Upload and maintain survey information within field instruments and machine control systems
  • Convert design files into GPS-compatible formats and assist with model preparation
  • Support the preparation of final plans and as-built documentation
  • Assist with survey equipment maintenance, calibration and software updates
  • Interpret project drawings and specifications to support field activities
  • Provide clear set-out information and documentation to site teams
  • Support daily survey planning and coordination with construction activities
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and compliance on site
  • Contribute positively to team culture and ongoing learning opportunities

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A sound understanding of surveying principles, field techniques and construction surveying practices
  • Experience operating survey equipment including total stations, GNSS receivers and digital levels
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when measuring, recording and processing survey data
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, plans and specifications
  • Working knowledge of survey and CAD software
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and follow direction from senior survey personnel
  • Commitment to safe work practices and quality outcomes

Essential Requirements

  • Current and valid Driver's Licence
  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work across civil construction project environments

Desirable

  • Certificate III in Surveying and Spatial Information Services, Undergraduate Certificate in Surveying or equivalent
  • Experience using Trimble equipment and software
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, 12d or Trimble Business Center (TBC)
  • Previous experience within civil construction, earthworks, road or infrastructure projects
  • TBC and 12d certification or equivalent practical experience
  • Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) or experience operating UAV/drone survey platforms
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
