Head of Portfolio Architecture, ‘Business Unit’

Join us our client as a  Head of Portfolio Architecture for our Business Unit and lead the strategic design and execution of our end-to-end architecture roadmap. In this senior leadership role, you will influence key investment decisions, shape scalable and secure solutions, and drive innovation across core insurance platforms, digital experiences, and AI-driven capabilities. Your expertise will empower us to deliver modern, compliant, and future-proof systems that enhance operational efficiency and customer engagement.

Job Details:

Duration: Permanent Full Time Employee W2
Pay rate: Up to $180,000 max rate 
Hybrid: New York, NY 3x a week onsite or Holmdel NJ 2x a week onsite 


Required Skills:

• 12+ years in technology and architecture roles within the insurance industry
• Proven experience as a Portfolio, Domain, or Enterprise Architect in regulated environments
• Deep knowledge of insurance operations, including policy, claims, underwriting, and billing systems
• Strong expertise in end-to-end enterprise architecture, covering business, data, application, and digital domains
• Experience influencing C-level stakeholders on technology strategy and investments
• Proficiency with cloud platforms, integration patterns, data platforms, and AI applications in insurance
• Solid understanding of regulatory, risk, and compliance standards such as NAIC, SOX, and SOC

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience leading architecture teams or cross-functional initiatives
• Knowledge of modern API-first, data-centric, and AI-enabled architectural patterns
• Familiarity with insurance-specific regulatory and legal frameworks
• Skills in digital transformation and customer experience innovation

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Extensive experience in large, regulated insurance or financial services organizations

Other Requirements:

• Ability to travel as needed to support strategic initiatives
• Certifications in enterprise or cloud architecture (e.g., TOGAF, AWS, Azure) are a plus
