Senior QS / Estimator (Civils)

FRS Recruitment is currently working with a leading Civil Engineering Contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator for their growing commercial team in Galway.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor delivering some of Ireland’s largest Civil Engineering and Infrastructure projects.

The position will initially have a strong focus on tendering and pre-contract activities, working alongside an experienced commercial team across major infrastructure projects, particularly within the Water sector.

As projects are successfully secured, the role will develop into a broader Senior Quantity Surveyor position, providing exposure across the full commercial lifecycle from tender stage through to project delivery and final account.

The successful candidate will also play an important role in leading and mentoring Junior Quantity Surveyors and Estimators within the wider commercial team.

Responsibilities

• Lead tendering and pre-contract activities across major infrastructure projects.
• Prepare detailed estimates and competitive commercial tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts and relevant tender documentation.
• Complete take-offs, cost planning and subcontractor package assessments.
• Support procurement and commercial strategy throughout pre-construction stages.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout tender processes.
• Mentor and support Junior Quantity Surveyors and Estimators.
• Support commercial delivery following successful project tender awards.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ Quantity Surveying or Estimating experience, within the Irish/UK Construction Industry.
• Strong background across large Civil Engineering infrastructure projects.
• Tendering and pre-contract experience would be highly desirable.
• Water Infrastructure experience would be particularly advantageous.
• Strong commercial, contractual and cost management knowledge required.
• Previous experience mentoring junior commercial staff is advantageous.
• Comfortable attending the Galway office twice per week.
