Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day finance function, ensuring the smooth operation of accounts processes while developing the capability to provide payroll support when required.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide broad finance support across the business while acting as a key backup for payroll administration during periods of leave or increased workload.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Allocating customer payments and reconciling debtor accounts.
- Reconciling supplier statements and assisting with payment runs.
- Performing daily bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Assisting with month-end processes, reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Supporting general ledger maintenance and finance administration.
- Assisting the Finance Manager with financial analysis, reporting and ad hoc projects.
- Providing administrative support across payroll, including maintaining employee records and preparing payroll reports.
- Assisting with payroll reconciliations and compliance documentation.
- Responding to payroll enquiries or escalating where appropriate.
- Preparing employment and payroll-related documentation.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across finance and payroll systems.
About You
We're looking for a detail-oriented finance professional with a solid accounting foundation who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and contributing to the success of the wider business.
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Officer, Assistant Accountant or similar finance-focused position.
- A sound understanding of general accounting principles and financial administration.
- Demonstrated experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
- Experience supporting month-end reporting and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Confidence using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, Astute or similar ERP/accounting systems.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Highly regarded:
- Qualifications or current studies in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping.
- Experience within recruitment, labour hire or professional services.
- Previous exposure to payroll processing or payroll administration.
- Knowledge of Fair Work legislation, Modern Awards and payroll compliance.
- Experience supporting process improvements or finance system enhancements.
