Summary:
Gi Group is hiring on behalf of a leading pharmaceutical company in Cork for a Senior Manager to join the Alliance & Collaborations Accounting team within a broader U.S. Controllership structure. Reporting to the Alliance & Collaborations Director, this role partners cross-functionally to support accounting, control and reporting activities, and to drive the quality of information reported in regional and consolidated financial statements and management reporting packs. This opportunity suits a technically strong accountant looking to deepen experience in complex collaboration accounting and disclosure support in a multi-national environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support the end-to-end alliance and collaborations accounting and reporting processes
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end close activities for assigned areas (journal entries, account reconciliations, collaboration receipts and payments, etc.)
- Analyse financial results and produce clear variance explanations for stakeholders
- Prepare management reporting and external reporting schedules
- Coordinate and manage collaboration-related incoming and outgoing payments
- Maintain and support an effective internal control environment for areas of responsibility (SOX-aligned)
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Alliance Management, FP&A, Corporate Development, Technical Accounting and Legal, plus internal/external business partners
- Manage accounting issues relating to complex collaboration arrangements, communicating clearly and proactively
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits and balance sheet reviews
- Support preparation and/or review of budget and forecast activity
- Lead, execute or support ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements:
- 8+ years’ relevant accounting experience
- Big 4 trained (essential)
- ACA (or equivalent) qualified
- BA/BSc (or international equivalent) in Accounting or related discipline
- Experience within a multi-national organisation
- Biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience is beneficial
- Strong technical accounting capability, including U.S. GAAP knowledge and SOX controls understanding
- Proven ability to evaluate and interpret complex arrangements and integrate activities across stakeholders
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with high attention to detail
- Self-motivated with strong ownership and the ability to manage timelines and competing priorities
- SAP experience is beneficial
- Hands-on experience with collaboration/alliance arrangements is beneficial
