The Role: 
We are actively looking for multiple mentors to join our REAL team in Wellington NSW, supporting Mob as they transition from the justice system back into community. You'll provide culturally safe support upto 6-months pre-release and continue supporting 12-months post-release with a strong focus on reconnection to community, culture and employment. 
 
This is a full-time contract until June 30, 2030, and will be based out of our Wellington office Monday to Friday. 
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Workshop & program facilitation
  • Cultural activities
  • Administrations tasks
  • Compliance management
  • Community engagement
  • Mentoring of First Nations people exiting incarceration
  • Case management
  • Employer engagement
  • Service referrals & advocacy
  • Stakeholder engagement

Knowledge & Experience:
  • Relevant experience in similar programs or industry.
  • Connection to the First Nations community and culture
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Justice system and it's impact on First Nations communities.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Customer service focused: committed to providing exceptional customer service across all channels - written, phone and face to face.
  • Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.
  • Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally.

  • Teamwork: willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members.

Criteria:
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • A valid/current Australian Driver's License is required to complete the roles and responsibilities of this position.
  • Pass a Police check - Some cases may be considered for clearance.
