Job Overview:
We are currently seeking an organized and detailed individual to join our Supply Chain team. This role will be responsible for developing, updating, and aligning material planning strategies to support factory revenue, delivery, and inventory turns targets. The individual will analyze inventory and delivery trends to identify gaps and opportunities, drive master data accuracy, make decisions regarding stocking strategies, and optimize safety stock levels in a manufacturing facility. They are also responsible for the development, execution, and effectiveness of the site’s SIOP process and Master Production Schedule (MPS). The Material Planning & SIOP Specialist works closely with the Supply Chain Manager and Purchasing team to ensure inventory levels support optimization of inventory levels and Factory performance, ensuring a proper balance of material availability on inventory turnover while adhering to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is adaptable, a team player, a great communicator and can meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.
Responsibilities:
Material / Inventory Planning / SIOP:
- Create, manage, and direct continual development of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to ensure alignment with the SIOP plan.
- Develop and maintain the key SIOP business metrics and work with functional leaders to drive improvement of these metrics. Develop reports and monitor critical KPIs to show Shipment trends, Forecast accuracy, and Inventory turnover.
- Establish, maintain, and optimize material planning parameters (such as Leadtime, Order Qty, Safety Stock) to support targeted delivery performance and Inventory turns
- Assess historical usage trends and gather forecast inputs to be used for material planning analysis
- Analyze on-hand inventory and identify parts that are under/over planned. Determine root causes and implement corrective actions
- Review, update, and maintain master data to ensure parts have the proper settings, ensuring that parts yield the expected MRP results
- Develop templates to effectively manage and analyze usage and planning data
- Conduct comprehensive lead time updates for all purchased parts by collaborating with suppliers and buyers
- Support new product launches by ensuring proper material planning is in place
- Assist in the EC meetings for new part set up
- Assess blanket POs and identify issues where excess inventory is and will be created
Communication:
- Collaborate with purchasing department regarding supplier MOQ and lead-time updates
- Coordinate with Product Management and SIOP teams to ensure alignment on future forecast
- Proactively communicate process changes and planning updates so that affected team members are prepared for potential changes in MRP output
Documentation and Reporting:
- Facilitate monthly SIOP process including reporting on Sales and Forecast quantity
- Compile detailed reports showing trends for usage, on-hand inventory, and inventory turnover
- Support weekly and monthly KPI reporting
Product Knowledge:
- Stay up-to-date on the features and benefits of inventory products and parts
- Collaborate with colleagues to expand product knowledge
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with leaders in Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain. Work closely with senior leadership to help shape and deliver the strategic objectives by determining the correct mix/balance between supply/demand.
- Collaborate with the extended supply chain team, (local and global) as needed
- Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager on new products and continuous improvement projects
Training and Development:
- Participate in training programs to improve skills and knowledge
- Attend monthly EHS trainings
Quality Control:
- Ensure accurate data is used for analysis and calculations
- Perform thorough data validation prior to uploading new planning parameters
- Evaluate and enhance material planning processes to minimize issues and defects
- Perform quality checks by established quality procedures and ISO requirements
Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors promptly
Cleanliness and Organization:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
Requirements:
- Bachelors’ degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in inventory, procurement or equivalent experience in operations roles.
- 1+ years of experience managing and updating large volumes of data related to Material Planning parameters.
- 1+ years of experience with JD Edwards or another ERP system.
- 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
