We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer to ensure metallurgical and NDT conformance for all cast and machined products. This role involves maintaining and improving existing products, developing new products, and creating efficient processes to ensure product compliance with specifications. The Process Engineer will provide timely and accurate support for manufacturing needs through individual efforts, teamwork, and guidance from the Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- Set and track individual goals to support business needs and strategy, reporting to the Engineering Manager.
- Establish part-specific guidelines for Production and Engineering staff.
- Incorporate best practices into part gating, mold design, wax assembly, investment shelling, wax removal, and casting processes.
- Drive product yield improvements through data analysis and process parameter adjustments.
- Support Process Engineering development efforts by providing input on all facets of part process engineering.
- Establish and revise procedures, and train staff on process development, monitoring, and yield improvements.
- Participate in customer conference calls related to process development and scrap/rework issues.
- Collaborate with Product Engineers to ensure timely completion of development milestones and improve lead times.
- Act as a backup for part-specific Process Engineering as necessary.
- Ensure timely completion and ease of use for all manufacturing fixtures required for wax assembly through the casting process.
- Provide timely support for manufacturing questions regarding product processing and inspection to ensure consistent processes.
- Interface with customers as needed and represent Triax as a steward of the Company, demonstrating exceptional communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
- Minimum of 10 years of investment casting industry experience, with 5 years in an engineering capacity.
- Experience with process engineering responsibility from tool build through production of multiple part numbers, including aircooled/cored parts.
- Proven problem-solving skills in investment casting processes, including defect identification and pareto analysis.
- Experience in development programs from tool build through production with an OEM customer component.
- Process engineering responsibility for Aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine Airfoil components (Vacuum Cast Vanes and Blades).
- Thorough understanding of DS/EQ mold design, shelling techniques, insulation, and casting parameters.
- Complete understanding of casting blueprints, Material Specifications, and Component Specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
