Sr CAD Digital Designer
The Sr CAD Digital Designer provides advanced digital surfacing and product development support for automotive programs. This role is responsible for developing production-quality Class-A surfaces, supporting concept development, and collaborating with cross-functional design and engineering teams to deliver high-quality interior and exterior vehicle components. The position combines digital modeling, design visualization, and physical model support throughout the product development lifecycle.

Scope:
• Develop production-quality Class-A surfaces using advanced CAD surfacing software (e.g., Autodesk Alias).
• Create and refine digital models that meet automotive surface quality, manufacturability, and craftsmanship standards.
• Design component interfaces with consideration for fit, finish, gap, flushness, and assembly requirements.
• Support concept development through digital modeling, physical model development, and design verification activities.
• Produce 3D visualization assets and support iterative design reviews throughout the development process.
• Collaborate with Industrial Design, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to translate design intent into production-ready digital models.
• Develop and maintain production-intent surfaces for both interior and exterior vehicle systems.
• Support integration of exterior components, equipment housings, and vehicle modifications required for advanced vehicle technologies.
• Participate in onsite design collaboration sessions while supporting a hybrid work environment.
• Standard work schedule is 40 hours per week. Overtime is not anticipated but may be required based on project needs.

Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Advanced experience developing Class-A automotive surfaces using Autodesk Alias or equivalent surfacing software.
• Strong understanding of automotive craftsmanship standards, including gap and flush requirements.
• Experience developing production-quality CAD models for complex automotive components.
• Strong understanding of digital modeling workflows, surface continuity, and manufacturability.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Industrial Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams throughout the product development process.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Pluses:
• Experience supporting both interior and exterior automotive component development.
• Experience with physical model development, concept validation, and Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) evaluations.
• Familiarity with 3D visualization, digital rendering, and design presentation workflows.
• Experience supporting advanced vehicle, mobility, or transportation programs.
• Understanding of production vehicle integration and product development lifecycles.
 

Estimated Min Rate: $55.00
Estimated Max Rate: $65.00/hr +. Depends on experience.
