Due to continued growth, they are seeking motivated Laboratory and Fire Assay Technicians to join their team in a fast-paced and supportive working environment.

About the Roles:

We are seeking reliable and motivated Laboratory Technicians and Fire Assay Technicians to join a busy minerals laboratory environment. These roles are responsible for the preparation, testing, and analysis of mineral samples while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely results to support their clients’ operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory Technician
  • Prepare and process mineral and geological samples in accordance with laboratory procedures
  • Conduct sample crushing, pulverising, splitting, drying, and weighing activities
  • Operate laboratory equipment safely and efficiently
  • Accurately record sample information and testing date
  • Maintain quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Ensure work areas are clean, organised, and maintained to laboratory standards
  • Meet daily production and turnaround targets
  • Assist with general laboratory and housekeeping duties as required
Fire Assay Technician
  • Prepare samples for fire assay analysis, including weighing and fluxing.
  • Perform fusion, cupellation, and prill collection processes.
  • Operate and monitor furnaces and fire assay equipment.
  • Handle chemicals, reagents, and high-temperature materials safely.
  • Ensure sample integrity and traceability throughout the assay process.
  • Accurately record assay information and results.
  • Maintain quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards.
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Meet daily production and turnaround targets.
  • Assist with equipment cleaning, maintenance, and general housekeeping duties.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Previous experience in a laboratory, fire assay, sample preparation, mining, production, or industrial environment is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment, furnaces, or industrial machinery is advantageous.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual handling tasks.
  • Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Current Australian working rights.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
  • Reliable transport and a strong commitment to attendance and punctuality.
