Active Partnerships
Salary: £28,000–£30,000
Location: Home-based (UK), with regular travel across England — all travel and accommodation expenses covered
Contract: Full time (37.5 hours with flexible working), fixed term to 31 March 2028, with scope for extension
Active Partnerships is the national organisation supporting a network of 42 local Active Partnerships across England, working together to create healthier, more active communities. Behind that network sits a small, friendly national team — and this role is at the heart of keeping it connected.
They're looking for an organised, proactive and creative person to support their communications and events team, and to be a go-to person for colleagues in the Sport Welfare team. If you enjoy helping others, like variety, and take real satisfaction in things running smoothly, this role will suit you.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Helping their events run smoothly — researching venues, gathering quotes from suppliers, welcoming delegates on the day, and pulling together feedback afterwards
- Creating and sharing content across their website, newsletters and social media channels
- Becoming the friendly first point of contact for their network-wide Microsoft Teams space, which connects more than 1,000 people across the network
- Spending around one day a week supporting their Sport Welfare team — including a weekly roundup email that more than 60 Sport Welfare Officers receive
- Supporting the wider team with things like slide decks, registration forms, meeting notes and general admin
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Within six months, you'll be confidently starting the groundwork for events on your own, drafting content without extensive briefing, getting the weekly roundup out on time every Friday, and known across the organisation and the network as a key contact for communications and events. You'll have freed up your colleagues to focus on the bigger picture — and that's exactly the point of the role.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
You don't need experience in sport and physical activity, and you don't need to have done this exact job before. Active Partnerships are interested in what you can do:
- Strong organisation — you can juggle requests from different people and work out what needs doing first
- A friendly, patient and professional communication style, written and spoken
- Confidence with digital tools and a genuine willingness to learn new ones — they use things like WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, but you don't need to know them all on day one
- The ability to pull out the key points from a lot of information for busy readers
- Self-motivation working from home, while staying closely connected to a team
- A helpful, service-minded approach — you enjoy making other people's work easier
Research shows that some people — particularly women and people from underrepresented groups — only apply for roles when they meet every requirement. If you can see yourself in most of the list above, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.
WHAT THEY OFFER
- 30 days' annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)
- 6% employer pension contribution when you contribute 2%
- Genuinely flexible working hours
- Health cover
- Home working, with 3–4 in-person team days a year and travel to and attendance at events — you don't need a driving licence, and all reasonable travel and accommodation costs are covered
HOW TO APPLY AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

The recruitment process will include:
- Submit your CV to register interest by: Friday 11 September 2026, 5pm. You’ll receive an automatic email within 24 hours with a link to the Job Pack (including full process details). Please check your junk/spam folder just in case the email took an unexpected detour.
- Complete the anonymised work sample tasks by: Monday 14 September 2026, 12pm.

Your responses will be anonymised and independently assessed against criteria agreed in advance with Active Partnerships.
