Looking for the opportunity to build something from scratch?

We are partnering with a purpose-driven organisation (world-class research across healthcare, agriculture, environmental science and industry) seeking a Senior Systems Developer to help design and build a brand-new Information Management System. This is a genuine greenfield opportunity where you'll have a high level of ownership and influence over the solution.
Working closely with an experienced and highly supportive Systems Development Manager, you will play a key role in shaping a new platform from the ground up, contributing across requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing and deployment

What you'll bring

• Strong Python and Django development experience
• Experience building enterprise applications
• Linux/Unix administration and scripting skills
• Solid SQL and database experience
• Git/GitHub experience
• Experience with AI tools such as Copilot or Claude
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Exposure to CI/CD and modern development practices

Nice to have

• React.js, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
• Cloud and containerisation experience
• DevOps exposure
• R or Perl experience

The hiring manager is flexible on specific technology backgrounds and believes strong fundamentals are more important than ticking every box. If you are a capable backend developer with solid system development experience and a willingness to learn, they are keen to speak with you.
