Sr IT Architect

Overview

Client is seeking a Senior IT Architect with deep VMware automation and cloud infrastructure experience. This role will support global vRealize Automation, VMware Cloud Director, and vRealize Orchestrator environments, with responsibility for VMware administration, IaaS solution design, automation workflows, scripting, troubleshooting, and platform optimization.

Core Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage global vRealize Automation and VMware Cloud Director environments.
• Administer VMware environments and troubleshoot vRA/VCD issues.
• Create new endpoints as landing zones for vRA and deploy new vORGs in VCD.
• Enhance and customize vRA using JavaScript.
• Design, script, implement, and manage IaaS solutions for VM creation in VMware environments.
• Support automation engineering across vRA, vRO, vCenter APIs, and SDKs.
• Use JavaScript, REST APIs, PowerShell, and Git to automate operations-related tasks.
• Serve as a VMware SME for vRA7.x, vRO7.x, VCD, VMware Converter, vCenter, vSphere, NSX-T, and PowerCLI.
• Implement and test VRA 7.x environment upgrades, including tenant and fabric group design and configuration.
• Collaborate with team members to implement VM creation and deletion workflows in vRO.
• Support production and non-production POCs for blueprints and workflows using vRA and vRO.
• Deploy and manage Azure VMware Services and Azure NetApp Files through the Azure portal.
• Deploy and manage VMware Cloud on AWS and Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP through the AWS portal.
• Deploy and manage Google Cloud VMware Engine and Google Cloud NetApp Volumes through the Google Cloud Platform portal.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 6 years of experience in IT architecture planning, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Extensive experience with vRA, vRO, VCD, and NSX-T.
• Strong VMware environment administration experience.
• Proficiency with JavaScript, REST APIs, and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience designing and implementing IaaS solutions.
• VMware certification in vRA, vRO, VCD, or related technologies.
• In-depth understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies.
• US citizenship required due to working in export-controlled and non-export-controlled environments.

Preferred Skills or Experience

• Advanced engineering degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with vRO, vRA, and VCD.
• Ability to work with complex cloud environments.
• Familiarity with change management processes.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
