Job Overview

Assemble various models of products while working at a bench or on the shop floor by performing the following duties. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform mechanical assembly operations of subassemblies and complete package assemblies according to engineering specifications. 

  • Complete sensitive and detailed assembly operations requiring a high degree of precision and workmanship. 

  • Assist with installation and assembly of electrical, instrumentation, and control components as required. 

  • Perform disassembly, inspection, rebuild, and reassembly of air ends and other sensitive rotating assemblies. 

  • Set up and support functional testing, including in-process quality checks and testing activities. 

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, assembly instructions, bills of materials, and quality documentation. 

  • Verify work quality and complete required documentation prior to advancing products to the next stage of production. 

  • Ensure all tools, gauges, and measuring equipment are properly calibrated prior to use and report discrepancies immediately. 

  • Use precision measuring equipment including calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring devices to verify conformance to specifications. 

  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and apply problem-solving skills to identify and resolve mechanical concerns. 

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety policies and procedures. 

  • Identify safety concerns and participate in corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts. 

  • Assist in training and mentoring team members as required. 

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and departmental projects. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or GED. 

  • Minimum one year of experience assembling precision mechanical equipment. 

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, assembly instructions, bills of material, and quality documents. 

  • Ability to use hand tools, assembly fixtures, and measuring equipment accurately and safely. 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. 

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Formal training from a technical school or trade school. 

  • Two or more years of experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing. 

  • Experience rebuilding rotating equipment, compressors, pumps, gearboxes, or similar mechanical systems. 

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Forklift, crane, or hoist operation experience. 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout a work shift. 

  • Ability to use hands continuously for assembly and inspection tasks. 

  • Regularly lift up to 35 pounds independently. 

  • Push or pull materials up to 50 pounds. 

  • Use hoists, cranes, or lifting devices for loads exceeding established limits. 

  • Ability to work extended shifts as business needs require.
