ABOUT THE ROLE:
AWX are looking for motivated people to join our clients Field Assistant staff to help eradicate invasive species starting Wednesday 27th of April 2026.
Please Note this role will start off based at the Caboolture Depot - with the view to move to Nambour in the near future (TBC)
ROLE INFORMATION & REQUIREMENTS:
Pay Rate: $34.65 per hour + Penalties and allowances where due
Role location: Caboolture Depot - Induction 27th April 2026 located in Berrinba for one day.
MUST have valid driver's licence (Open preferred).
Ability to pass a pre-employment functional assessment and drug & alcohol testing.
A sound level of computer skills and literacy.
Customer service background advantageous.
Able to work a 9 day fortnight, Monday to Friday, with every 2nd Monday off. (average of 76 hours in the fortnight)
Hours of work: Start times between 6:30am and 7am depending on time of year and team allocation. Finish times between 3:30pm and 4pm If successful there will be a 1 day paid induction based at the Berrinba depot
We supply PPE for this role.

DUTY DESCRIPTIONS:
The seasons transfer between Treatment (Warmer Months) and Surveillance (July to September) this is due to the Fire Ants not foraging for food once the ground temperature drops below 18°C.
Treatment Duties:
Walking up to 15km's per day across a variety of terrain to spread bait for invasive species.
Carrying a hand spreader (1-2 kgs including bait) in left hand and turning a crank with right hand to distribute bait from the spreader. Hand spreaders also have a support, which extends on the underside of the forearm from wrist to elbow to distribute weight more evenly.
30 to 60 minutes vehicle travel in work vehicles from the depot to and from a worksite. Driving of work vehicles generally rotates.
Surveillance Duties:
Walking slowly up to 15km's per day across a variety of terrain to search for infestation (nests).
Carrying a light pointer (less than 500gms) in either left or right hand, as preferred, and poking the stick at the ground.
Bending to manually collect suspect ants in a small (<20ml)>30 to 60 minutes vehicle travel in work vehicles from the depot to and from a worksite. Driving of work vehicles generally rotates.
Being exposed to the various outdoor temperature ranges and climatic condition experience in south east Queensland.
Field-Based Administrative Duties:
• Resident liaison (door knocking, telephone calls)
• Paperwork
