Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Horizontal Boring Mill Machinist to join our Cleveland manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating and setting up large-scale CNC horizontal boring mills used to machine heavy cast iron components and industrial parts requiring deep-hole drilling, precision boring, and tight dimensional tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate large CNC horizontal boring mills to machine complex, heavy industrial components. G&L CNC Horizontal Boring Mill – 6 " spindle, 120 " Y-axis, 168 " X-axis/ G&L CNC Horizontal Boring Mill – 5 " spindle, 96 " Y-axis, 129 " X-axis
- Perform deep-hole drilling, precision boring, milling, and related machining operations.
- Set up machine tooling and make necessary tool changes and adjustments.
- Enter and adjust tool offsets within the machine's CNC control.
- Read and interpret CNC G-code and M-code.
- Inspect finished and in-process components to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Accurately use precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, bore gauges, and related measuring instruments.
- Read and interpret blueprints, machining specifications, and dimensional requirements.
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and productivity.
- Safely handle and position large and heavy workpieces.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating CNC horizontal boring mills is strongly preferred.
- CNC lathe experience involving parts approximately 5 "–15 " in diameter is preferred.
- Strong understanding of CNC G-code and M-code programming.
- Proven ability to set up machine tooling and adjust tool offsets using a CNC control.
- Experience with a tool presetter is a plus.
- Ability to read and accurately use micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, bore gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment screening.
- Must be willing to work required overtime, including weekdays and Saturdays.
Pay: $24 –$36 per hour, based on experience
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Schedule: Overtime weekdays and Saturdays as required
