Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Cost Manager with a passion for delivering complex construction projects?
We're partnering with a leading organisation in the mission-critical infrastructure sector to appoint a Cost Manager for an initial 6-month contract, with a genuine opportunity to transition into a permanent position.
Based in the Melbourne CBD head office, you'll play a key role in the commercial delivery of major data centre projects currently under construction. Working closely with project teams, you'll provide commercial leadership across multiple live projects, ensuring cost performance, contractual compliance and successful project outcomes.

The Role
As the Cost Manager, you'll be responsible for managing the commercial and financial performance of multiple projects throughout the delivery phase, ensuring accurate cost control, effective change management and robust commercial reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the commercial performance of multiple live construction projects.
- Reviewing, assessing and negotiating project variations.
- Monitoring project budgets, forecasts and cost-to-complete reporting.
- Preparing commercial recommendations and obtaining internal approvals.
- Supporting project teams with contractual and commercial advice throughout delivery.
- Managing payment assessments, cost reporting and financial forecasting.
- Working closely with contractors and consultants to resolve commercial matters.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities while implementing mitigation strategies.
- Producing detailed cost analysis and reporting using advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Ensuring commercial governance and cost management processes are maintained across all active projects.
About You To be successful, you'll ideally have:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction Management.
- Previous experience as a Cost Manager, Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager on major construction projects.
- Strong experience managing the commercial delivery of live construction projects.
- Extensive knowledge of contract administration, variations and cost control.
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Previous experience within data centres, mission-critical, commercial, industrial or other complex building projects will be highly regarded.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
