APS6 Print Room Team Leader

Lead a Critical Government Print & Design Service

An outstanding opportunity exists for an experienced Print Room Team Leader to oversee a busy, high performing print and design service supporting a major Australian Government department.

This role combines hands on print production expertise with team leadership, stakeholder management and operational oversight. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality printing and publishing services while leading a small team and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This position is ideal for an experienced print professional looking to take the next step into a leadership role or an established print services leader seeking a meaningful and rewarding opportunity within government.

About the Role

As the Print Room Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day to day management of print room operations, ensuring the timely delivery of critical printing services to senior executives, government stakeholders and partner agencies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supervising print room operations and staff

  • Managing print production, publishing, finishing and binding activities

  • Prioritising workloads and coordinating competing print requests

  • Maintaining service delivery standards and meeting critical deadlines

  • Managing stakeholder relationships and responding to print-related enquiries

  • Coordinating with external suppliers and service providers

  • Managing stationery, consumables and print room resources

  • Maintaining operational procedures and documentation

  • Scheduling equipment maintenance and coordinating repairs

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and service enhancements

  • Delivering exceptional customer service across all stakeholder groups

About You

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience leading or supervising a commercial print room, print production team or publishing operation

  • Strong hands on experience operating commercial print production equipment

  • Experience managing print workflows, production schedules and competing priorities

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and customer service skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to lead, coach and support team members

  • Sound organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and make operational decisions

  • Experience managing suppliers, vendors and service providers

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes

Highly Desirable

  • Experience within a government, corporate or large enterprise print environment

  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience with commercial print management systems and software

  • Knowledge of print production workflows, finishing and publishing processes

  • Must hold existing NV1 or higher Clearance

Physical Requirements

This is a hands on operational leadership role and requires:

  • Standing for extended periods

  • Lifting materials up to 15kg

  • Loading paper stock and consumables

  • Basic machinery troubleshooting

  • Working directly with specialised commercial print equipment
