Key Objectives:
Investigate and identify opportunities for tailoring engine component design requirements.
Focus on evaluation of "cold-section " engine components such as Fan, Axial Compressor and Centrifugal compressor.
Estimate level of savings in terms of reduced design criteria, reduced cost, reduced Client and reduced schedule.
Technical Approach:
Conduct search of literature and propose alignment of component design methods to regulatory compliance.
Conduct impact analysis of tailoring design criteria.
Demonstrate testing and validation methods.
Update design criteria and models.
Key Deliverables:
Summarize findings from literature and regulatory review.
Identify potential candidate efforts.
Perform preliminary impact analysis.
Required Skills and Background:
10 years' experience with overall engine function, w/ 5 years' experience in engine cold section (Fan and Compressor).
5 years' demonstrating knowledge of design criteria, practices, and guidelines for engine cold section, with a focus on mechanical and structural requirements.
5 years' experience demonstrating familiarity with regulatory agency criteria and guidelines, including military and FAA standards related to engine cold section.
3 years' experience demonstrating ability to lead Fan and Compressor team and collaborate with other functional groups, SMEs, and Chiefs to develop new design criteria and guidelines based on emerging requirements.
5 years experience demonstrating ability to perform structural and mechanical analyses of components and sub-assemblies as well as various trade-off studies between existing & new criteria.
3 years' experience demonstrating familiarity with testing, validation and verification of Fans and compressors.
3 years' experience demonstrating customer facing support (communication, presentation experience,etc.).
