Safety Advisor | Construction
$966 per day inclusive of super | Truganina

Full-time | 3 days per week onsite
We are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to provide dedicated health and safety assurance across a large-scale construction and operational environment in Truganina.
This role will work across a complex multi-contractor site, providing safety advice, assurance and oversight during construction activities that interface with operational teams. You’ll partner closely with internal safety and project stakeholders, the Principal Contractor, subcontractors and site leadership to support safe work practices and strong safety outcomes.
Importantly, this is an assurance and advisory role. It does not replace or assume the safety management responsibilities of the Principal Contractor or other employers undertaking work onsite.

The role
You will be responsible for:
- Conducting site inspections, audits and spot checks across construction and operational activities
- Monitoring high-risk construction activities and escalating safety concerns where required
- Reviewing and verifying SWMS, permits and other relevant safety documentation
- Providing advice on construction risk management and safe work practices
- Supporting the implementation and adoption of OHS systems and processes
- Identifying existing and emerging hazards and supporting corrective and preventative actions
- Supporting incident investigations, inspections and reporting
- Monitoring corrective actions and ensuring appropriate follow-through
- Working closely with project, automation, safety, contractor and site leadership teams
- Supporting safety initiatives and continual improvement activities
- Coaching and influencing contractors, leaders and operational teams to strengthen safety behaviours
- Supporting OHS compliance, reporting, data analysis and performance tracking
- Preparing safety reports, metrics and KPIs for leadership and project stakeholders
- Liaising with regulators and external stakeholders where required
- Attending toolbox talks and site meetings as required
- Previous experience as an OHS / Safety Advisor within construction, major projects or another high-risk environment
- Strong experience working across multi-contractor construction sites
- A background in contractor safety management and safety assurance
- Strong knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation, regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Experience reviewing SWMS and other high-risk construction documentation
- Experience supporting incident investigations and corrective actions
- Confidence engaging with contractors, supervisors, site managers and senior stakeholders
- Strong coaching, influencing and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work independently, identify issues and proactively drive outcomes
- Strong reporting, documentation and Microsoft Office skills
Qualifications
Ideally you will hold:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or higher
- ICAM investigation training or similar
- Current Construction White Card
- Current CPR and First Aid qualifications
The details
- Rate: $966 per day inclusive of super
- Location: Truganina, VIC
- Contract: Initial 12 months, with the approved project duration currently extending to approximately April 2028
- Hours: Full-time, with site operating hours generally between 6:00am and 4:00pm
- Onsite requirement: Approximately 3 days per week onsite
- Large-scale construction environment with significant contractor and operational interfaces
