Searson Buck is seeking enthusiastic and reliable people to support the Tasmanian Electoral Commission during the 2026 Local Government Elections.

We are recruiting a team of Call Centre and Telephone Assisted Voting (TAV) Operators to assist voters and support the delivery of election services across Tasmania. These are temporary opportunities based in Battery Point and are ideal for people with strong communication skills, attention to detail and a customer-focused approach. 

About the roles
You'll be part of a professional team supporting Tasmanians throughout the election period.

Depending on your placement, your responsibilities may include:
  • Responding to inbound calls and providing election information to members of the public
  • Assisting voters with Telephone Assisted Voting processes
  • Verifying information and following established procedures
  • Accurately entering and recording information across multiple systems
  • Working from scripts and structured processes
  • Providing a positive and professional customer experience
  • Maintaining confidentiality and accuracy at all times
Full training will be provided prior to commencement.

About you
To be successful, you'll have:
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Confidence using computers and navigating multiple systems
  • A friendly and professional telephone manner
  • The ability to follow instructions and established procedures
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic
  • Availability to attend training and work throughout the election period
Previous experience in customer service, contact centres, administration, hospitality, retail or election work will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Key dates and availability requirements
Please ensure you are available for the relevant training and operational dates below. Different team members may be required at different stages, depending on the role assigned.

Telephone Assisted Voting (TAV) Operator
  • Mandatory training on 7 October 2026
  • Operational shifts commence from 8 October 2026
  • Full TAV team operational from 12 October 2026
  • Election period work continues through October 2026
  • Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm
Important requirements
All successful applicants will be required to:
  • Complete pre-employment checks and reference checks
  • Complete a skills assessment
  • Provide evidence of Australian work rights
  • Meet the Tasmanian Electoral Commission's political neutrality requirements
  • Attend mandatory training sessions prior to commencement
