Senior Data Engineer / Analyst - Azure

Our team is growing and we are seeking a Data Engineer / Analyst who combines strong Azure data engineering capability with detailed data analysis, profiling, mapping and reconciliation skills. You will investigate source systems, build migration pipelines and ensure retained data meets regulatory, audit and operational requirements.

About the Role

· Work within a high-profile transformation program delivering secure, compliant and high-quality data outcomes.
· Partner with business and technology stakeholders across architecture, risk, compliance and delivery.
· Combine hands-on Azure engineering with detailed analysis of source data, data quality and migration requirements

Key Responsibilities

· Design and develop Azure-based data migration and retention solutions.
· Build and maintain Azure Data Factory pipelines and Azure SQL databases.
· Investigate source systems and analyse complex data structures and dependencies.
· Perform data profiling, discovery and source-to-target mapping.
· Develop ETL/ELT processes for migration, retention and archival activities.
· Validate and reconcile migrated data to confirm completeness, accuracy and integrity.
· Identify and resolve data-quality issues, transformation defects and exceptions.
· Support data retention, archival and legacy system decommissioning activities.
· Produce technical documentation, mapping specifications, transformation logic and reconciliation artefacts.
· Work closely with Business Analysts, Architects, Risk, Compliance and business stakeholders.

About You

· Experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Technical Data Analyst, Data Migration Engineer or Data Migration Analyst.
· Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory.
· Advanced Azure SQL, SQL Server and SQL development capability.
· Experience building and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines.
· Strong data profiling, analysis and source-to-target mapping skills.
· Enterprise data migration experience, including reconciliation and validation.
· Ability to independently investigate data sources and identify downstream dependencies.
· Strong stakeholder management, communication and technical documentation skills.

Highly Desirable

· Banking or Financial Services experience.
· Data retention, archival or information governance experience.
· Legacy system decommissioning experience.
· Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
