Public Sector People are currently seeking experienced HR professionals with local government backgrounds for a variety of upcoming short term contract roles across Victoria, metropolitan and regional councils.

We are inviting expressions of interest from individuals with demonstrated capability across operational and strategic HR functions, particularly those who can confidently support leaders, navigate employee/industrial relations, and deliver on best-practice people solutions in a public sector setting.

Key areas of demand include:

• Providing strategic and operational HR advice to managers and departments
• Coaching leaders on performance, conduct, development, and engagement
• Leading and supporting end-to-end recruitment processes, including classification and onboarding
• Managing and advising on employee and industrial relations issues
• Leading or contributing to workplace investigations and resolution processes
• Reviewing, developing and implementing HR policies, processes, and systems
• Supporting organisational development, workforce planning and change management initiatives
• Interpreting and applying local government Enterprise Agreements, Awards and legislation

Ideal candidates will have:

• Prior experience in a local council, state goverment or related public sector organisation
• A sound understanding of public sector HR frameworks, industrial instruments and compliance
• Strong relationship management and coaching capabilities across diverse stakeholder groups
• The ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments and meet organisational priorities
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related field
