Maintenance Manager – Major Quarry Operation Southern Tablelands NSW | Circa $180k | Relocation assistance

The opportunity
Our client is a leading Australian construction materials organisation seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager for a major quarry operation in the NSW Southern Tablelands.

Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week and producing up to 3.5 million tonnes annually, the site incorporates extensive fixed and mobile plant, rail infrastructure and a substantial contractor workforce. Its scale and complexity are comparable to a smaller mining operation.

Reporting to the Quarry Manager, you will lead the site’s maintenance function and move it from short-term, reactive activity towards a disciplined, preventative and reliability-led approach.

Your role
Leading a team of maintenance supervisors and tradespeople, you will establish a clear maintenance plan, strengthen execution and improve equipment availability without compromising safety or production.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and delivering the maintenance strategy across fixed and mobile plant
• Improving equipment availability, utilisation and Overall Equipment Effectiveness
• Embedding planned and preventative maintenance disciplines
• Planning and coordinating weekly maintenance activity and major shutdowns
• Managing an annual repairs and maintenance budget of approximately $14 million
• Leading, coaching and developing the site maintenance team
• Coordinating contractors, resources, materials and critical spare parts
• Conducting root cause analysis into repeat and high-risk equipment failures
• Improving work-order planning, completion and reporting through Maximo or a similar CMMS
• Managing contractor performance, safety compliance and quality of work
• Developing capital proposals that improve safety, reliability or asset performance
• Working closely with production leaders to align maintenance activity with operational priorities
• Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, quality and regulatory requirements

About you
You are a capable maintenance leader who combines sound technical knowledge with strong people and contractor management skills. You bring structure to complex environments, make decisions using data and challenge established practices constructively.

You will ideally have:

• Maintenance management experience within quarrying, mining, cement, heavy manufacturing or another industrial environment
• Experience overseeing significant fixed and mobile plant assets
• A mechanical engineering qualification or relevant mechanical trade qualification supported by substantial industry experience
• Demonstrated success improving plant reliability and reducing downtime
• Strong planned and preventative maintenance capability
• Practical knowledge of OEE and continuous improvement
• Experience delivering shutdowns and capital projects
• Strong commercial, budget and contractor management skills
• Proficiency with Maximo, Oracle or another CMMS
• Well-developed root cause analysis and problem-solving capability
• A visible, hands-on and accountable leadership style

Direct quarrying experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Applications are encouraged from maintenance leaders with transferable experience gained in mining, aggregates, cement, steel, paper, chemicals, recycling or other continuous heavy-industrial operations.
