Apply directHydrogen Group is recruiting a Senior Facilities & Pipeline Engineer for a 6–12 month contract opportunity in Colorado.
We're looking for an experienced midstream engineer who can combine strong technical engineering knowledge with practical problem-solving skills. You'll support the design, operation and improvement of pipeline and facility assets, working across projects involving compression, pumping, storage and associated infrastructure.
Candidates with experience in natural gas, crude oil or NGL systems are encouraged to apply – you do not need experience across all three.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Facilities & Pipeline Engineer, you'll provide technical engineering support across both existing assets and new project activity.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop engineering solutions for pipeline and facility systems, including compression, pumping and storage infrastructure
- Support the design and modification of compressor stations, pump stations, terminals and process facilities
- Provide technical expertise across natural gas, crude oil and/or NGL transportation systems
- Evaluate existing equipment and infrastructure and recommend appropriate engineering improvements
- Develop scopes for facility modifications, upgrades and expansion projects
- Prepare and review engineering cost estimates
- Support project economics and technical feasibility assessments
- Troubleshoot operational and equipment issues affecting pipeline and facility performance
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, efficiency and productivity
- Evaluate equipment and provide technical input into vendor selection
- Review engineering alternatives and recommend solutions based on technical, operational and commercial considerations
- Provide sustaining engineering support for installed facilities
- Work closely with construction and operations teams during project execution
- Analyze engineering and operational data to identify performance and optimization opportunities
- Support project planning, schedules and technical deliverables
- Manage multiple engineering priorities across different projects
- Ensure designs and engineering solutions comply with applicable industry codes, standards and regulatory requirements
- Provide field engineering support and travel to project locations when required
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Significant engineering experience within midstream, pipeline or related energy infrastructure
- Experience in at least one of the following: natural gas, crude oil or NGL
- Facility and pipeline design experience
- Experience with compressor stations, pump stations, terminals, process plants or similar infrastructure
- Understanding of mechanical equipment used within pipeline and midstream facilities
- Experience supporting facility upgrades, expansions or capital projects
- Ability to develop technical scopes and cost estimates
- Strong analytical and engineering problem-solving skills
- Ability to evaluate technical options considering safety, reliability, cost and operational performance
- Experience working with engineering, construction and operations stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and project deadlines

The opportunity
Location: Colorado – On-site
Contract: 6–12 months, with potential for a longer-term or permanent opportunity
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Pay rate: $80.00 per hour
Travel: Typically 5–10%, with increased travel possible during major projects
