Nurse Practitioner - Medicinal Cannabis | Cairns

Surematch Recruitment is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join an alternative medical centre in Cairns, Far North Queensland, providing medicinal cannabis consultations and ongoing patient care.
This opportunity would suit a compassionate practitioner with strong clinical assessment skills, sound prescribing judgement and an interest in individualised patient care.

About the role

  • Conduct comprehensive consultations, reviewing medical histories, symptoms and previous treatments.
  • Assess suitability for medicinal cannabis treatment, including contraindications and medication interactions.
  • Develop individualised treatment plans and prescribe where clinically appropriate and authorised.
  • Educate patients about treatment options, potential benefits, risks and monitoring requirements.
  • Provide follow-up consultations to monitor treatment effectiveness and side effects.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and meet relevant prescribing requirements.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to support coordinated care.

About you

  • Current AHPRA registration with endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Strong clinical assessment, reasoning and medication management skills.
  • Ability to practise autonomously within your professional scope.
  • A compassionate, professional and non-judgemental approach.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
  • Commitment to safe prescribing and ongoing professional development.
  • Medicinal cannabis prescribing experience is highly regarded.
  • Based in Cairns or willing to relocate.
