Davidson is working with a valued client who is seeking an experienced Communications Officer to join their Executive Services team within the Office of the Mayor.
About the Role/s
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will provide high-level communications advice and operational support to the Office of the Mayor.
- Provide strategic communications advice and support to the Chief of Staff, including development and implementation of key messaging and information
- Oversee the review of internal and external communications and media content to ensure accuracy, timeliness and quality
- Manage community correspondence processes, including responses and workflows within the Office of the Mayor
- Support communication activities relating to stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and partnerships across government, business and community sectors
- Research and coordinate written briefings, reports, recommendations and responses on emerging issues
- Prepare high-quality documentation, including reports, meeting briefs and correspondence
- Coordinate meeting and briefing materials for the Mayor and Chief of Staff
- Maintain databases, systems and processes to support efficient information management and reporting
- Support projects, initiatives and administrative activities within the Office of the Mayor
- Manage task allocation and prioritisation of correspondence across support staff, referring matters as required
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
About you
- Demonstrated experience in a communications, stakeholder engagement or similar role
- Tertiary qualifications in communications or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality content for diverse audiences
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to provide sound advice and recommendations
- Proven ability to exercise initiative, judgement and discretion, particularly when working with sensitive information
- Understanding of protocol when engaging with senior government stakeholders and cross-organisational partners
- Experience using corporate systems, registers and reporting tools
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability in a changing environment
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence and willingness to occasionally work outside standard business hours
The Benefits
- $59.38 per hour + Super
- Initial government contract opportunity with potential for extension
- Located in Ipswich
- Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
