Principal Engineer (Tailings/Geotechnical)

Lead tailings design and delivery across the full project life cycle.

This senior role suits a practical, people-first engineer who enjoys setting direction, lifting standards and mentoring others. You will provide technical leadership on tailings and waste facilities from early studies through detailed design and construction, with a focus on quality, efficiency and collaboration.

About the Role

 

• Review, design, construction support and remediation of tailings structures across study, design and construction stages
• Run desk-based studies and due diligence reviews using data from multiple sources
• Lead scoping and pre-feasibility studies and develop pragmatic, buildable solutions
• Design and supervise waste facilities with sound geotechnical and water management inputs
• Project management and coordination across scope, schedule, budget and risk
• Prepare clear reports and proposals; present recommendations to clients and stakeholders
• Mentor and guide engineers and graduates to lift capability across the team

 
  About You

 

• Degree in Engineering with geotechnical or civil specialisation
• 10+ years’ relevant experience in mining projects, with tailings design/build/maintenance exposure
• Strong technical ability in tailings management, geotechnics, heap leaching and water management
• Confident reviewing analyses and reports, and conducting audits
• Proven stakeholder skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Leadership and people management experience, including mentoring and team development
• Comfortable contributing to business development and client relationship growth
• Brisbane based or open to relocate (support available)
