Production Manager/ Ops Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Manager to join a well-established, highly automated manufacturing operation in East Cork.

This is a senior site leadership role, reporting directly to the Plant Manager and acting as their right-hand person in the day-to-day running and performance of the plant.

The role has become available due to internal promotion, offering a genuine opportunity to step into a key leadership position within a large-scale operation with approximately 106 employees on site.

The Role

You will take a lead role in driving safety, production performance, people management, continuous improvement and operational excellence across the site.

Working closely with the Plant Manager and wider management team, you will:

• Lead and develop the Production team, including Production Supervisors

• Drive production to plan, efficiency, OEE and manufacturing performance

• Champion Health & Safety and maintain a strong safety culture

• Manage performance, engagement, training and development across the team

• Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives

• Lead problem-solving and change management across the operation

• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Finance and HR

• Ensure production meets demanding quality, service and customer requirements

• Manage production priorities and ensure clear communication across the site

• Support the Plant Manager in the overall management and strategic direction of the facility

What We're Looking For

• Engineering degree or equivalent engineering qualification – essential

• Minimum 7 years' relevant manaement experience in a manufacturing environment

• Proven experience as a Production Manager / Senior Production Leader

• Experience managing large production teams

• Previous experience working in a unionised manufacturing environment – essential

• Experience in a highly automated, process-driven or regulated manufacturing environment

• Strong people leadership, influencing and communication skills

• Proven ability to manage performance, drive accountability and develop teams

• Strong understanding of continuous improvement and operational excellence

• Excellent planning, organisation and problem-solving skills

• Commercially aware with a strong focus on productivity, efficiency and cost

• A proactive, hands-on leadership style

Experience with Six Sigma, Lean or other operational excellence methodologies would be advantageous.
