Our client is a large national organisation operating across NSW, QLD, VIC and SA, with a highly unionised workforce and a complex industrial landscape. Following a long-standing team member's resignation, they are seeking an Industrial Relations Lawyer to join the team on an initial 6 month contract, with a strong view to permanency.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys the practical side of workplace relations and wants exposure to enterprise bargaining, industrial disputes, workforce planning and strategic employee relations advice within a large corporate environment. The successful candidate will work closely with operational leaders and the Employee Relations team, supporting a business with more than 50 Enterprise Agreements across 30+ subsidiaries.
The Role
Reporting into the Employee & Industrial Relations function, you will:
- Provide advice on a broad range of employment and industrial relations matters
- Support and lead enterprise bargaining activities and EBA reviews
- Represent the business in Fair Work Commission matters, conciliations and industrial disputes
- Advise on disciplinary matters, workplace investigations, performance management and terminations
- Partner with operational leaders on workforce planning and organisational change initiatives
- Engage with unions and employee representatives
- Review and interpret enterprise agreements, awards, employment contracts and workplace policies
- Support governance, compliance and industrial risk management activities
- Travel occasionally to support stakeholder groups across the business
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Admitted Australian Lawyer with a current practising certificate
- Minimum 2 years' PQE in employment law, workplace relations or industrial relations
- Experience gained within a respected mid-tier, top-tier or specialist workplace relations practice
- Completed a formal graduate program
- Exposure to enterprise bargaining and industrial relations matters
- Confidence appearing before or engaging with the Fair Work Commission
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex industrial instruments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- A commercial, pragmatic approach and eagerness to continue developing your career
