Apply directPosition Overview
We are seeking a Systems Integration & Test Engineer to support the integration, verification, and validation of complex hardware, software, subsystems, and complete systems. This role will be responsible for developing and executing system-level test solutions, troubleshooting electrical and hardware interfaces, integrating test equipment, and analyzing test results to ensure systems meet contractual, technical, and performance requirements.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting, test equipment, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and software development in test environments, particularly using NI LabVIEW and/or TestStand.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, test, document, and maintain solutions for the integration and testing of in-house developed and COTS/GOTS components, subsystems, and systems.
- Translate customer contractual requirements into practical and comprehensive system integration and test solutions while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Develop functional and technical specifications, test standards, and requirements for system and subsystem testing.
- Troubleshoot hardware/software interface issues, electrical connections, cables, circuit cards, and associated test equipment.
- Define system input/output parameters and ensure proper integration and functionality across complete systems and subsystems.
- Review and evaluate system requirements to identify testability requirements and potential integration challenges.
- Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans, test procedures, test schedules, and verification activities.
- Integrate and verify test equipment used to support system and subsystem testing.
- Coordinate subsystem and system-level testing with engineering, program management, manufacturing, and other technical organizations.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting using equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical test instruments.
- Develop, modify, and maintain test software/code using programming languages and tools commonly used in automated test environments.
- Utilize NI LabVIEW and/or NI TestStand to develop or update automated test applications and test sequences.
- Read, interpret, create, and update wiring diagrams, equipment drawings, test requirements, schematics, and test procedures.
- Analyze test data and results to determine whether systems meet specified performance and verification requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive system and subsystem test evaluation reports documenting test results and findings.
- Identify, document, and track discrepancies discovered during integration and testing.
- Perform integration and regression testing following software, hardware, component, or subsystem changes to verify that corrective actions have been successfully incorporated.
- Support root-cause investigations and troubleshooting of integration and test failures.
- Ensure all testing and documentation are performed in accordance with applicable engineering, quality, safety, and program requirements.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have at least 2 years of hands-on experience with the following:
- Electrical troubleshooting of cables, wiring, circuit cards, and/or electronic hardware.
- Use of electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and related instrumentation.
- Integration and verification of test equipment.
- Software/code development, modification, or troubleshooting within a test or automated test environment.
- Experience with NI LabVIEW and/or NI TestStand is highly preferred/required.
- Ability to read, interpret, write, and develop:
- Wiring diagrams
- Equipment drawings
- Electrical schematics
- Test requirements
- Test plans
- Test procedures
- Experience executing system or subsystem-level integration and verification testing.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to document technical findings and communicate test results effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated test systems and test station development.
- Experience integrating hardware and software components into complete systems.
- Experience with COTS/GOTS hardware and software integration.
- Experience writing automated test sequences using TestStand.
- Experience developing test applications in LabVIEW.
- Experience working with aerospace, defense, electronics, communications, or other highly regulated technical systems.
- Familiarity with requirements verification, validation, regression testing, and discrepancy tracking.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering and program teams.
What This Role Is Really Looking For
The strongest candidates will typically come from backgrounds such as:
Systems Test Engineer | Integration & Test Engineer | Electrical Test Engineer | Hardware Test Engineer | Automated Test Engineer | Test Engineer | Systems Integration Engineer
The biggest screening areas are hands-on electrical troubleshooting + test equipment integration + LabVIEW/TestStand + ability to read/develop wiring diagrams and test procedures. A candidate who only has software testing experience or only performs electrical troubleshooting without system integration/test experience would likely be a weaker match.
