NSW Mental Health Commission
The NSW Mental Health Commission is an independent statutory agency responsible for monitoring, reviewing and improving mental health and wellbeing for people in NSW.
The Commission works with government and the community to secure better mental health and wellbeing for everyone. In all its work, the Commission is guided by the voice of people with lived experience of mental health issues, carers, families and kinship groups. The Commission promotes policies and practices that recognise the autonomy of people who experience mental health issues and support their recovery, emphasising their personal and social needs and preferences.
The Commissioner is the Chief Executive of the Commission and reports to the Minister for Mental Health. The Commissioner works in collaboration with government agencies and service providers to support the development and delivery of better approaches to mental health services. The Commissioner educates, advocates and advises on positive change to mental health policy, practice and systems, while balancing diverse community and stakeholder interests.

- Leadership and management experience at a senior executive level, and demonstrated capacity to act with integrity
- Experience in the development and delivery of complex strategy and policy, supported by a deep understanding of current mental health policy and service provision
- Highly advanced communication, engagement and influencing skills, along with proven capability to foster constructive partnerships with government and stakeholders
- Highly developed organisational and people leadership capability, and a strong community and stakeholder focus
- Success in change management and reform.
