Staff Accountant

Career Concepts is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a well-established company in the Erie, PA area. This direct hire opportunity involves supporting daily accounting operations, reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger activities. Our client is open to both experienced candidates and individuals early in their accounting careers who demonstrate strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and an interest in professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Support month-end closing activities and preparation of financial reports.

• Review financial transactions to ensure accuracy and proper account coding.

• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other daily accounting functions as needed.

• Help track and analyze expenses and support basic cost accounting activities.

• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies with guidance from the accounting team.

• Maintain accurate financial records and assist with additional accounting projects as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant experience or internship experience will also be considered.

• Previous accounting experience is a plus but not required for candidates with strong foundational knowledge and a willingness to learn.

• Familiarity with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and basic accounting principles.

• Exposure to month-end closing procedures or cost accounting is beneficial but not required.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.

• Positive attitude, accountability, and willingness to ask questions and learn new processes.

• Ability to work effectively with others in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
