We are seeking an experienced Scheduling and Control Team Leader to lead a team of project schedulers within a large, complex and transformation-focused organisation.

This senior position will establish consistent scheduling and control practices across major projects and programs. You will manage team workloads, improve schedule quality and provide senior leaders with reliable insights into project performance, dependencies, resources and delivery forecasts.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of project schedulers, including work allocation, mentoring and performance oversight.
  • Define and implement scheduling strategies, standards and governance.
  • Establish robust baseline management and integrated change-control processes.
  • Develop and maintain integrated master schedules for major programs.
  • Implement scheduling techniques including Earned Value Management, dependency management and rolling wave planning.
  • Improve schedule quality through health checks and recognised measures such as DCMA metrics.
  • Integrate and quality-assure schedules provided by vendors and external delivery partners.
  • Provide reporting on critical paths, float, milestones, resource demand and schedule performance.
  • Support forecasting through resource-loaded schedules and matrixed resource models.
  • Advise Project Managers, Program Managers and senior leaders on scheduling performance, risks and delivery impacts.
  • Drive continuous improvement across project scheduling and control practices.
  • Ensure scheduling activities comply with organisational governance, safety, risk and quality requirements.

Skills and experience

To be successful, you will have:

  • At least 10 years of experience in project scheduling and control.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or managing a scheduling function or team.
  • Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management, baseline and change control, dependency management and rolling wave planning.
  • Experience developing integrated master schedules and resource-loaded schedules.
  • Strong capability in schedule analysis, resource forecasting and performance reporting.
  • Knowledge of project and program management frameworks such as PMBOK, AgilePM or MSP.
  • Strong numerical and data-analysis skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
  • The ability to provide trusted advice to senior management.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification.

Professional accreditation such as PMI-SP, AACE PSP or an equivalent qualification will be highly regarded but is not essential.
