We’re partnering with a Queensland Government organisation seeking an experienced Principal Financial Accountant for a contract through to March 2027.
This opportunity will suit a senior financial accounting professional with strong practical experience across capital works, asset accounting and CWIP, who can step into a hands-on environment and confidently manage complex accounting activities, ledger integrity and financial reporting.

The opportunity:
Working within an established finance function, you will take a lead role across financial accounting activities relating to capital works and assets.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading end-of-month financial accounting activities
- Managing the integrity of capital, asset and CWIP ledgers
- Supporting capital works accounting, reconciliations and associated reporting
- Preparing financial, management and ad hoc reporting for senior management
- Providing technical financial accounting advice across the finance function
- Identifying and resolving ledger, accounting and reporting issues as they arise
What you'll bring We’re particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Strong hands-on experience in capital works and asset accounting
- Practical experience managing CWIP and associated accounting processes
- Demonstrated responsibility for month-end accounting and complex ledger activities
- Experience preparing financial reporting for senior stakeholders
- The ability to provide sound technical accounting advice in a complex organisation
- Previous Queensland Government or broader public sector financial accounting experience will be highly regarded
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or commerce
