WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT
This is an opportunity for an attorney who wants to move beyond simply reviewing contracts and become a true legal advisor to the business.
As Corporate Counsel, you will take independent ownership of a broad portfolio of commercial agreements involving the organization's agent network, carriers, vendors, and other business partners. You will be trusted to assess risk, negotiate terms, provide practical guidance to non-legal stakeholders, and help structure agreements that protect the organization without unnecessarily slowing down the business.
Just as importantly, this person will help the General Counsel continue to scale the legal function. That includes improving contract processes, developing playbooks and templates, creating greater consistency around negotiation standards, and helping establish a more efficient contract lifecycle.
The environment will reward someone who is comfortable taking ownership, making decisions, managing competing priorities, and jumping into whatever legal issue is most important to the business that day.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Independently draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of commercial agreements
- Lead negotiations involving agent agreements, carrier agreements, vendor agreements, settlement agreements, NDAs, amendments, and related contracts
- Assess contractual and business risk and clearly communicate potential exposure and mitigation strategies to internal stakeholders
- Serve as a primary legal contact for external agents, carriers, vendors, and other business partners during negotiations
- Partner directly with the General Counsel on contract strategy, legal policy, and broader business matters
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, and other functions to structure commercially practical agreements
- Develop and maintain contract templates, negotiation guidelines, and playbooks to create consistency and scalability
- Improve processes surrounding contract intake, drafting, approval, execution, and recordkeeping
- Provide oversight and mentorship to paralegal or contract administration resources
- Support litigation management, legal research, employment matters, transactional work, and other needs across the legal department
- Balance multiple high-priority matters while exercising sound independent legal judgment
