Our client is a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Western Sydney, with a strong presence in its market and a focus on operational excellence.
Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Junior Financial Accountant to join their finance team and gain exposure to both financial and management accounting within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, with a particular focus on general ledger accounting, reconciliations, inventory, costing and month-end reporting.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with 1–3 years' accounting experience who wants to broaden their commercial exposure and develop their career within a manufacturing environment.
A key requirement of the role is hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), ideally within a manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-based business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes
- Prepare general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
- Process journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments
- Assist with inventory accounting and stock reconciliations
- Support inventory valuation and investigate stock variances
- Assist with product costing, COGS and manufacturing cost analysis
- Analyse production and inventory variances and escalate discrepancies
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable as required
- Perform bank and other key account reconciliations
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial and management reports
- Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Maintain accurate financial data within Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Assist with audit requirements and provide supporting documentation
- Work closely with operations, supply chain, warehouse and production teams
- Assist the Finance Manager with ad hoc reporting and financial analysis
About You
We are looking for an accounting professional who is commercially minded, analytical and keen to develop their career.
You will ideally have:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- 1–3 years' experience in a financial accounting role
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)
- Experience working within manufacturing, FMCG, wholesale, distribution or another inventory-based environment
- Understanding of inventory accounting and reconciliations
- Exposure to product costing, COGS or manufacturing variances will be highly regarded
- Good understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes
- Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables and formulas
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with non-finance stakeholders
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn
