Snr. Azure DevOps Engineer

Our Education client is looking for an experienced Snr. Azure DevOps Engineer in Melbourne on Permanent basis will play a pivotal role in building and optimising the university’s cloud and platform engineering capabilities, with a focus on Azure environment, reporting directly to the Platform Engineering Manager and working closely with the Cloud Architect. 

About the role-

Responsibilities: 
Core responsibilities include managing and automating Azure cloud environment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, primarily with Azure Bicep and Azure DevOps. This position requires a strong understanding of Azure networking, security, and monitoring to ensure the platform is stable, secure, and well-maintained. The role also supports the execution of cloud cost optimisation activities as defined by the university’s Cloud FinOps framework.

Key Selection Criteria

• 5+ years of experience in a DevOps or cloud engineering role, preferably in higher education or large enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated experience designing and managing cloud-native and hybrid architectures.Expertise in Azure services (e.g., App Services, Virtual Networks, Containers, Storage Accounts) and familiarity with AWS core services.
• Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Azure Bicep. (No Terraform)
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes or AKS).
• Solid understanding of cloud security controls including IAM, RBAC, NSGs, and use of Key Vault.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams across research, teaching, and administration
• A valid working with children’s check card (or ability to obtain prior to or upon commencement).
